The January 12 Peoria stop of the 2012 Cubs Caravan (kind of what it sounds like – a roving tour of Cubs players and personnel in the days leading up to the Cubs Convention) has a lineup, and it includes a number of the Cubs’ top prospects.
Top prospects Brett Jackson, Josh Vitters, Matt Szczur, and Chris Carpenter will make an appearance at the Peoria Riverplex, together with Cubs players Tony Campana and Casey Coleman. All six, obviously, saw time with the Peoria Chiefs.
The Peoria stop will also feature new Cubs coaches Chris Bosio (pitching coach), Dave McKay (first base coach), and Jamie Quirk (bench coach).
If you’re in the Peoria area and want to check the Caravan out, get your tickets in advance – at the Peoria Chiefs’ offices at O’Brien Field, Bergner’s at The Shoppes at Grand Prairie, Brunk’s Sports Center in Washington, Morton Community Bank, Bartonville Bank and The Sports Corner in Peoria Heights – because they aren’t sold at the door. The tickets are $15, which includes the autographs/photos, beer, soda, hot dogs, chips, and cookies. Doors open at 3:30 p.m.
Per Cubs.com, “The annual Cubs Caravan is a two-day excursion of Cubs players and coaches to schools, neighborhoods and communities throughout Illinois and Northwest Indiana. The 2011 Cubs Caravan featured two tours of Chicago Cubs players, coaches and front office leadership combining to visit six cities and five elementary schools, two high schools, Chicago’s Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Boys and Girls Club of Rockford, Lincoln Library in Springfield, the USO of Illinois at the Great Lakes Naval Academy and a charity luncheon benefiting Chicago Cubs Charities.”
