The NBA Is Trying to Replace the Postponed Bulls-Hornets Game with a Bulls-Pistons Matchup (UPDATE: It’s On)

The update (3:30 CT) goes up top: The game is on.

The Chicago Bulls will play the Detroit Pistons tomorrow night, instead of the Hornets. Details and original post follow.

The NBA announced today that the Wednesday night matchup between the Chicago Bulls and Charlotte Hornets would be postponed due to Charlotte’s need for contact tracing.

While it looked as if the Bulls would now be off until their Friday matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers, it appears the NBA might have other plans. According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the league is now trying to schedule a (previously postponed) Pistons-Bulls matchup for tomorrow night.

Detroit also saw their game on Wednesday night postponed due to the ongoing winter storm in Texas -Governor Greg Abbott issued a state emergency in response to the weather on Monday.

So, in the grand scheme of things, this doesn’t really change much for either the Bulls or Pistons. I guess the only difference would be that both teams seem to be receiving an “easier” matchup and less travel, depending on when or if or how these other games are made up. The Pistons were originally going to fly to Dallas to take on a 13-15 Mavericks team who has won four of their last five. Meanwhile, the Bulls were going to head to Charlotte to play a 12-15 Hornets team that has been .500 since the start of February.

Detroit sits last in the Eastern Conference with a record of 8-19, and the Bulls sit 9th at 11-15.
