There was a really scary moment late in yesterday’s game, with Kris Bryant going knee-first into an un-padded portion of the wall. Thankfully, he was OK, but it definitely flashed to mind the risk of yet another fluke injury for a guy who just needs a dang healthy season.
It prompted a humorous – well, at first humorous – exchange after the game:
Kris Bryant said his knee was fine after slamming into the side wall late in the game.
"Yeah, I'm doing fine. Just spoke with Jed. Told him to put the padding a little higher. We'll see if I have any pull around here."

Except it’s not so humorous, because it really is happening:
#Cubs Ross said he talked with baseball operations today and there should be extra padding installed on 1st/3rd base walls by the time the team gets back from first road trip.

Kris Bryant is now the official Cubs office safety manager.
