The last time we saw Mitchell Trubisky throw a pass, it turned out to be his last in a Bears uniform.
As for the next pass Trubisky throws at Soldier Field, it will come during this upcoming preseason. While wearing a Buffalo Bills uniform.
You already know the Chicago Bears’ 2021 regular-season schedule is OUT. The 18-week slate is still funny to grasp right now, but I’m sure it will become normal the more I look at it. Perhaps we’ll be saying the same about a three-game preseason schedule, which looks something like this:

Three exhibition games against AFC foes. Two at home. One against Mitchell Trubisky’s new team.
Yeah, sure, the Dolphins are an interesting team. Heck, they won more games than the Bears did last year and still missed the playoffs. Tough break for Miami. Biggest waste of a football season on South Beach since *gestures at the general wasting of Dan Marino’s Hall of Fame career.* The Titans are good, too. Tennessee has consecutive playoff trips under its belt under Mike Vrabel. And I know Bears fans who would take a trip to Nashville just for the heck of it — even for a preseason game.
But let’s be real with ourselves: We’re all circling August 21 on our calendar for Trubisky’s return.
For his flaws, Trubisky quarterbacked his way to two playoff appearances in three years. He made a Pro Bowl as an alternate in 2018. And put together enough highlights for a going-away video package to be aired at Soldier Field. I mean, after not giving Trubisky a proper send-off via social media, maybe the Bears are just waiting to do it in person on a Soldier Field video board. Yep, that’s gotta be it!
If not, then I imagine Trubisky will get ample opportunities to make some new memories at Soldier Field. After all, it’s not as if Josh Allen figures to get a ton of work during preseason if the Bills plan on conserving him for the 18-game long haul.
The Bears’ preseason begins on August 14 and ends on August 28. But of the three Saturday exhibitions on the slate, it’s that August 21 that we’ll be sure to keep open.
