Afore the Game: Packers v. Chi-Feds (1:20 CT) – Lineups, Broadcast Info, etc.

weeghman parkOn the sleepy grass of Weeghman Park this afternoon, the Chicago Federals will host the Packers of Kansas City in a baseball contest. The cool air caresses the north Chicago ballpark, and the competitors may find it difficult to levy a great deal of offensive purchase. The woeful Packers have plumbed the depths of ineptitude in the yet nascent 1914 season, and the Chi-Feds seek to offer them no quarter today or any day.

The Cubs will look to win this four-game set against the Diamondbacks today while donning some sweet Chi-Feds duds and celebrating the 100th anniversary of Wrigley Field (then known as Weeghman Park). The Cubs have already taken the first two games, and a win today would go great lengths to repairing some of the early-season frustration and despondence felt not only by the fans, but possibly by the players, too. Or maybe I’m just waxing dramatic because of my 1914 mindset.

Jeff Samardzija has been fantastic all year, and he’ll hopefully continue that stretch today. And, hey, maybe the Cubs will score more than 0 or 1 run off of Wade Miley.

The Mets Are Right to Be Mad, But Also the Call Was Correct
