#BNBlogathon Check-In: Hour 36

dusty sleeping blogathonI am currently blogging – here, on Facebook, on Twitter (hash tag #BNBlogathon for those who want to jump into the fray themselves), and on Snapchat – for 39 hours straight, until slightly past MLB’s August 1 non-waiver Trade Deadline, thanks to your generous donations to Make-A-Wish. I’ll be doing recaps on the process throughout the day, but you’ll also see normal posting (Bullets, news, Pre-Gamin’, EBS, etc.), as well as a significant uptick in rumor/trade posts.

The Trade Deadline has passed. The Cubs picked up Joe Smith. Three hours left. Gotta wrap things up. Some housekeeping to do, one more walking Periscope, and then a wrap-up post before I head off to sleepy town at 8pm CT.

Total Posts So Far:

46.

News and Rumors Since the Last Check-In:

So much activity! Because the Trade Deadline passed! I’m just gonna have to ask you to go the home page, and scroll back to see everything if you want to catch up.

Most Interesting Tidbit Since the Last Recap:

All the trades, of course! Things blew up much later than usual this year, but the total volume of trades, throughout trade season, was probably right around what it usually is. There were just fewer big-time names this time around.

Current Thoughts About the Chicago Cubs’ Trade Deadline Strategy/Execution:

I would have liked to have seen a depth starter more than another bullpen piece in Joe Smith, but the market is the market, and I suppose it’s not easy to find a guy you can stash at AAA who is also good enough to step into a playoff rotation on a moment’s notice. I am fine with the Smith acquisition.

Current Beverage/Stimulant of Choice:

Water. Gonna try and coast into the end.

Where I’m Writing:

A couch, but I’m gonna have to change that soon, because it ain’t workin’ for me:

Strangest Thought Passing Through My Mind:

“Moon River,” playing on a loop. I often sing along.

Enhanced Box Score: Red Sox 5, Cubs 4 – April 28, 2024

Mike Tauchman Ties the Game with an 8th-Inning, Three-Run BLAST!

Another day, another dominant Double-A start from top Cubs pitching prospect Cade Horton.
