Boy did he need that! The Chicago Cubs top prospect, Pete Crow-Armstrong, was promoted this week not because he was quite ready offensively, but rather out of necessity after injuries to multiple Cubs outfielders. And predictably, he looked over-matched on a couple of quick strikeouts against Justin Verlander, as he continued searching for his first big league hit.
AND THEN IT CAME.
Pete Crow-Armstrong Hits First Home Run
With one on and one out in a frustrating offensive game for the Cubs, Pete Crow-Armstrong stepped up to the plate showing bunt. But after a wild pitch moved Miguel Amaya to second, PCA was given the green light to swing away. And swing away he did. HOOOOOOME RUUUUUUN.

He even admired it for a second! I love it.
And that was no cheap shot either. Statcast had it at 107.2 MPH off the bat and 396 feet. First hit, first homer. And the best part? It was off a 94.8 MPH fastball, the sort of pitch that has been an issue for him so far.
