Adam Shaheen is set to make his 2018 regular season debut in primetime.
Once penciled in to be the Chicago Bears’ top “Y” tight end option, Shaheen missed the first nine games of the regular season while recovering from a foot/ankle injury he suffered in the preseason. But the wait is over and Shaheen – who was elevated to the active roster on Saturday – finally gets to join his teammates on the active 46-man game day roster. We’ll see how much the coaching staff puts on his plate in Shaheen’s 2018 debut, but I feel as if Shaheen being active means he will be a full-go for tonight’s first-place showdown against the Minnesota Vikings.
Defensive lineman Bilal Nichols is also active for the Bears tonight. The rookie from Delaware showed up on the injury report at the end of the week and was listed as questionable on Friday. Nichols has been dealing with a knee issue that kept him out of a game against the Bills a few weeks ago. An active Nichols means the Bears have a fully loaded defensive line, which will have its work cut out against a talented rusher like Dalvin Cook and the hot passing hand of Kirk Cousins.
The most notable name on the inactives is wide receiver Kevin White, who is a healthy scratch for the third straight week. Fellow receiver Javon Wims is also inactive, but he dealt with a knee injury and was on the injury report last week. That means the Bears will dress only four wide receivers, though, we’ve learned that doesn’t mean Mitch Trubisky’s passing options will be limited.
Here is the complete list of Bears inactives:
