News from the Bears side of the injury report couldn’t be better as the team looks to break a two-game slide on Sunday against the Chargers.
Defensive back/special teams ace Sherrick McManis is out of concussion protocol, which gives him a green light to get back on the field against Los Angeles. And even though defensive lineman Bilal Nichols (knee) made an appearance on Friday’s injury report, this is simply done as a weekly precaution for when the Bears practice inside on turf. From an injury standpoint, Chicago is in a good place. And the Bears (not to mention their fans) will take any positive vibes they can get.
On the other side of the equation, the Chargers are not as fortunate:
The Bears’ injury status is nearly clean while the Chargers have Keenan Allen (hamstring) and Melvin Ingram (hamstring) officially questionable.

The Chargers injury report is a flat-out mess.
A team that already had 11 players on injured reserve entering Friday just added four more players who have been ruled OUT for Sunday’s game against the Bears.
Los Angeles also has five players listed as questionable. Among the marquee players whose status is up in the air include star receiver Keenan Allen and defensive end Melvin Ingram. The last thing the Chargers needed was more injuries, but the hits keep coming.
In most occasions, I would circle a pile of injuries as a reason the Bears *SHOULD* get back in the win column by knocking off the Chargers. But the Bears couldn’t beat a short-handed Raiders team in London in Week 5. Nor could they beat a Saints team starting backups at quarterback, running back, and tight end, all while playing at home and coming off the bye.
I suppose the Bears have a slight advantage in being healthier than the Chargers. But recent history shows that doesn’t mean as much as it once did.
