Northwestern Left Tackle Peter Skoronski is Already at the Top of Our NFL Draft Prospect Watch List

College football returned over the weekend with “Week 0” and did not disappoint.

There was sorcery:

A wild comeback:

And most importantly (at least, from our point of view), the season debut of an offensive prospect we’ll need to keep tabs on throughout the year.

Northwestern’s Peter Skoronski was already on our radar. But his performance at left tackle in the Wildcats’ come-from-behind win against Nebraska should put everyone on notice:

Skoronski has been getting some love from prospect watchers for his showing in the win. And you can see why. With every winning rep, Skoronski takes another step toward being a first-round lock in the 2023 NFL Draft.

As of right now, next year’s draft doesn’t have a consensus top offensive lineman prospect. But that’s why they play the games, right? Games like the one Skoronski had on Saturday can help lift his prospect profile. And if he can do it again and again as this season evolves, we could see Skoronski as the top lineman prospect in this class. All things considered, that probably puts him right in the Bears’ wheelhouse. Remember, the Bears have their first-round pick this year. Sure, we love this receiver class. But if Justin Fields is That DudeTM, then using that selection to fortify the offense line would be a good idea, too.

A first-round offensive lineman prospect with local ties who could secure top prospect status with a dominant showing against Big Ten competition? Yeah, this guy is about to become the favorite draft-eligible prospect for so many Bears fans:
