A pair of key cogs in the Bears are making their respective returns to the Chicago Bears lineup after recent absences.
Firstly, Teven Jenkins is back in the swing of things and is active for today’s game against the Atlanta Falcons. Jenkins, who has grown into a stud right guard in his first year at the position, gets the green light to play after missing last week’s game against the Detroit Lions with a hip injury. The injury bug has been problematic for Jenkins in his first two seasons, but getting the a-okay to be active today is a sign that the issue was a short-term issue. Jenkins has a top-10 grade for offensive guards, per Pro Football Focus. So, yeah, I’m excited to see his return to the trenches.
Meanwhile, Velus Jones Jr. isn’t a healthy scratch today. Which means his redemption arc can begin this afternoon at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Jones has been riding the struggle bus throughout the season. Early season injuries kept him off the field at the start of the season. But then miscues on the field (muffed punts, dropped passes) helped push him down the depth chart. And it ultimately pushed him off the game day roster. But with Khalil Herbert out of action for at least the next four games, the Bears need to get creative in filling the void left behind. Perhaps Jones can lend a helping hand in this areas.
As for who’s inactive, here ya go:
