On Friday night, now Montreal Canadien center (or centre as they say north of the border) Kirby Dach tweeted an adios to Chicago.
Chicago – thanks for an unforgettable 3 years. It was truly a dream come true to put on the @NHLBlackhawks jersey and play in front of the fans! Grateful to the Hawks organization, my teammates, and of course the fans for a memorable start to my NHL career.— Kirby Dach (@kdach77) July 9, 2022
Dach, of course, was the third overall pick by the Blackhawks in the 2019 NHL Draft. He moved in with the Seabrooks and had a progressively improving rookie season before injuries, Jeremy Colliton and an organization in flux contributed to a disappointing end to his three-year tenure in Chicago.
He never became consistent enough — or good at all for that matter — at the dot to sustain his spot as a center in the lineup and interim head coach Derek King started using him more on the wing in his third and final season in Chicago.
Currently a restricted free agent, Dach now gets a chance to turn the page in Montreal.
