Pre-Gamin’: Blackhawks at Hurricanes (6:00 CT) – Lineups, Broadcast Info, Game Thread, More

Chicago Blackhawks

Carolina is 12-0-1 in their last 13 games and come into tonight’s game one of two teams (with Boston) to have 50 points in the standings in the entire NHL. Andrei Svechnikov is an artist with the puck and comes into tonight’s game with 18 goals on the season, leading the Canes. Chicago has two players tied for the team lead with 11 (Max Domi and Jonathan Toews). This is a tough test to start the post-Christmas schedule.

Carolina Hurricanes

Freddie Andersen and Ondrej Kase are on IR. Jake Gardiner and Max Pacioretty have been on LTIR for some time.

What to Watch For

  • Carolina is 10-3-1 at home and hasn’t lost a home game since Nov. 23. Ironically, that loss was 4-0 to Arizona. So maybe they’ll take the Blackhawks for granted, too?
  • Kochetkov might be taking over the net for Carolina. He’s 10-1-4 with a 1.94 goals against average and .928 save percentage this season. He’s been good enough that Carolina will have to make a tough decision when Freddie Andersen is healthy.
  • Max Domi leads the Blackhawks with 10 points (4 goals, 6 assists) in 13 road games this season. He finished last season with a nice run in Carolina, posting seven points in 19 regular season games and six points in 14 playoff games for the Canes.
