This past season, Anton Khudobin appeared in a single game for the Chicago Blackhawks after he was acquired in the trade that sent Max Domi to the Dallas Stars. Dylan Wells also made his NHL debut last season — but appeared in just one game before he was sent to Dallas in the Domi trade.
One game. That’s it.
He won’t be back with the organization, so it looks like that will be the sum of his track record and the total entry on the back of his hockey card from his time with the Blackhawks organization. Which qualifies him for a unique group of goaltenders.
There are 15 goaltenders who have appeared in a single game for the Chicago Blackhawks. Khudobin joined Carter Hutton, Matt Underhill, Wilf Cude and Red Almas as the five goaltenders who suffered a loss in their only game with the Blackhawks. Cude holds the distinction of having allowed the most goals in his only appearance with the Blackhawks (nine in 41 minutes).
Only three earned a win in their lone appearance in the Indian head: Sebastien Caron, Ray Leblanc and Bill Dickie.
Four goaltenders were perfect in their only game with the Blackhawks. Three of them many fans don’t likely remember: Tom Cook, Moe Roberts and Christian Soucy. The fourth has become infamous for his single NHL game: Scott Foster, who appeared as an EBUG and was marvelous.
The others who made a single appearance for the Blackhawks: Kent Simpson and Ken Brown.
