Intros are overrated.
• Today marks the 50th straight day without live sports, and I’m not quite sure how to react. Part of me can’t believe it’s been that long, while the other part worries this might not even be halfway. We might know more about the current COVID-19 pandemic, but we know very little about what the next couple of months hold for the sports world. The NBA, specifically, has made little progress on a potential return. So much so, in fact, that according to CNBC, executives and agents are calling for an official cancellation of the 2019-20 season. Each week that passes by without an update from the league office, we find ourselves that much closer to this reality. And though it might be understandable … it still sucks.
• However, even as CNBC reports the restlessness of some anonymous executives, I still have to believe the majority of the league would prefer a resumption of play. The main reason, of course, is the money. If the NBA can salvage even the playoffs, they’ll be able to mitigate against the already enormous loss they’re expected to take. As for players, a canceled season would likely mean a significantly reduced salary, but I think these guys also just want to see a champion crowned. An entire season of hard work completely thrown away is a tough pill to swallow.
• I also think it’s important to note this CNBC report surfaces only one day after news that the NBA could legitimately consider Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando as an NBA hub. So while some folks out there might want to call a quits, the guy with the loudest voice – Commissioner Adam Silver – isn’t on their side (yet).

• Might I add, I think it would awesome for the NBA to finish out the season at Disney World. We could have Disney mascots in the stands, a giant Mickey at center court, Goofy as a sideline reporter, and so much other fun crap. Brett talked a bit more about this a little while back too, so check it out!
• The NBA has changed a ridiculous amount since His Airness ruled the court, and ESPN broke down what those changes look like in a recent article. Interesting read.
