What to Watch For …

•   Eh, there isn’t really anything important about this game. Same old same. JUST KIDDING. Last night, The Athletic’s Darnell Mayberry dropped some huge news about head coach Billy Donovan’s plans to change the starting lineup. Tonight will reportedly be the first time ever Wendell Carter comes off the bench, and second-year guard Coby White will join him. In their place will be Thaddeus Young and Tomas Satoransky, two vets who have played a pivotal role in helping Chicago have one of the top benches in the NBA. We talked a whole lot more about this in the two posts below, so feel free to check those out if you haven’t already:

•   I am really interested to see how Carter responds to this benching. I expect White to handle it fine, especially after filling the sparkplug role for the Bulls all of last season. However, Carter has started every single game of his NBA career, and we know that he has a tendency to beat himself up for even the smallest mistakes. Hopefully, the big man can use this as motivation as he reestablishes his confidence against the opposing team’s second unit.

•   This is pretty much a must-win for the Bulls. If this team is serious about a playoff run, they have to continue to prove they can beat the teams they’re supposed to. They started to do that in the first half but suffered a major setback against the depleted 76ers. Now, they have a chance to get themselves back on track by taking care of a Raptors team that is missing three starters, including their top two leading scorers (Fred VanVleet and Pascal Siakam).
