The 2021 NBA Draft Combine will be back in Chicago this summer!
Due to the ongoing pandemic, the NBA didn’t hold the originally scheduled 2020 combine in Chicago last season. Instead, teams and players were told to conduct meetings/workouts either virtually or in a nearby NBA market under a set of strict guidelines. One summer later, however, it appears the NBA is prepared to return to a full-fledged draft combine. Even better, it appears Chicago is totally down to host that combine!
As the city is in the midst of slowly reopening, The Athletic’s Shams Charania has reported that the combine will be held at Wintrust Arena (home of the Chicago Sky) from June 21-27th. Interviews, five-on-five games, testing, and all the combine staples will be back in the mix.
Sources: 2021 NBA Draft Combine is scheduled to take place in person June 21-27 in Chicago at Wintrust Arena and Marriott Marquis, consisting of team interview sessions, five-on-five games, shooting drills, measurements, strength/agility testing, halfcourt drills and medicals.

For basketball lovers, this is fun news. For Bulls fans … it feels kind of meh. The Bulls traded away their first-round pick earlier this season, so there is not a strong motive to closely monitor this year’s combine (unless that pick lands in the Top-4, of course). At the same time, the team will have a second-round pick, and there is also always the possibility the front office trades back into the draft.
Regardless, it’s just so nice to see the league/world getting back on track!
