The Chicago Bulls blessed us with a 13-minute-long video of every single Zach LaVine dunk from the 2021-22 campaign.
And I’m simply here to encourage you to watch it. Like … now:
As far as dunking round orange things go, no player in the NBA can do it better than LaVine. Whether it’s a transition 360, a blow-by tomahawk, or a two-handed jam off the oop, the two-time All-Star makes every single slam look effortlessly ferocious.
While LaVine’s knack for rocking the rim isn’t reason enough to hand him a max contract, it’s at least part of the equation, right? He has an instinct to stuff the highlight-reel, which is an ability every team wants out of the face of their franchise. Not to mention, the video above just goes to show how much easier he can make the game for the rest of his teammates.
Indeed, chuck it down the court after a defensive stop, and LaVine will use his elite transitional skills to flush it home. As for in a halfcourt setting, LaVine’s off-ball movement and quick-twitch cutting skills force the opposing defense to constantly be mindful of his whereabouts. Every teammate can benefit from his mere presence on the floor, and Ayo Dosunmu was one guy who seemed to have a lot of fun with that.
I cut out a couple of Dosunmu dishes and put them in the video below. Just as great as it was for Dosunmu to have a teammate with that much athleticism, I’m sure it felt great for LaVine to have a rookie who could feed him that easily:
Let’s hope we get many more seasons of these two bringing the United Center to their feet!
