Ew, the Milwaukee Bucks Have Reportedly Shown Interest in Derrick Rose
Well, this is the worst trade deadline news I’ve heard all week.
According to long-time NBA insider Marc Stein, the Milwaukee Bucks have expressed interest in a trade for the Knicks’ Derrick Rose ahead of tomorrow’s deadline.
Rose has appeared in just 26 games this season as the Knicks have decided to prioritize the youth on their roster and take Rose out of the rotation. In those 26 games, he did struggle mightily to provide a positive impact on the offensive end, shooting just 39.4 percent from the field and dishing just 1.8 assists.
Having said that, Rose undoubtedly presents the kind of savvy veteran experience that a contending team might hope to add, especially when we consider his improved 3-point shot over the years. Trading for him would come with a relatively steep price, though. While Rose would give his new teams some flexibility with a team option next year, he is making $14.5 million this season.
Rumor has it Milwaukee has been willing to move on from Grayson Allen this season, but he makes just $8.5 million, which means they would have to add even more contracts to make a deal work. Is that worth it when we consider Rose has played just 52 games over the past two seasons?
Regardless, I’ll be crossing my fingers that the deal doesn’t go down. It’s already been weird enough to watch Rose wear a Knicks jersey, but can you imagine him playing up in Milwaukee!? The Bulls still have two games against the Bucks on this season’s calendar … my emotions couldn’t handle that!
