Ayo Dosunmu Added to Rising Stars Game As an Injury Replacement

Chicago Bulls

The NBA announced on Thursday that the Chicago Bulls will have another representative at All-Star Weekend.

Ayo Dosunmu will officially replace Houston’s Jalen Green as an injury replacement. He will suit up for Deron Williams’ team for the same four-team tournament format introduced last season.

With the nod, this will mark Dosunmu’s second-straight appearance in one of All-Star Weekend’s first big events. He finished with 5 points, 2 assists, and a steal when he played for Gary Payton’s team last year.

While Dosunmu’s initial absence from the Rising Stars roster was a surprise, at least it’s now clear that he was one of the next in line. His second year hasn’t necessarily come with a significant jump in production, but he is still averaging 9.6 points, 2.9 assists, and 3.3 rebounds on an impressive 50.9 percent field goal percentage. Dosunmu also continues to be an above-average defender and one of the best young guards in transition.

We’ll now have a Bull to watch in three of this weekend’s events (DeRozan – All-Star Game, Dosunmu – Rising Stars Game, Carlik Jones – Next Up Game). I can’t wait to watch (it’s gotta be better than what the Bulls have been doing lately, right?)!
