According to both ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the Phoenix Suns have found their next head coach.
Frank Vogel and the Suns are reportedly working on a five-year, $31 million deal to have him lead the franchise, per Charania. The Suns recently revamped their roster, with new owner Mat Ishbia making an aggressive trade to acquire Kevin Durant midway through the 2022-23 season.
Vogel took a full season off from coaching after the Los Angeles Lakers let him go before the start of the 2021-22 season. He helped lead the team to a title during the 2019-20 bubble season and a 56.4 percent winning percentage over his three years in LA.
Expectations will undoubtedly remain high for the Suns after firing Monty Williams and losing in the second round to the Denver Nuggets. And this is only more true with the addition of a veteran head coach in Vogel.
After the Pistons reportedly agreed to terms with Monty Williams this week, the Raptors now sit as the only team still looking for their next head coach.
