There was something kind of nice about taking a nice three day break from Bulls basketball, especially after how they lost to Atlanta on Monday night. For the last couple of months we’ve known what the Bulls fate would likely hold with regards to the Play-In, now it’s set in stone that we’ll see a Bulls/Hawks matchup – it’s just a matter of where. I’d love to see that game get played at the United Center, and currently the Bulls hold a 0.5 game lead over the Hawks with a game in hand. So a win tonight puts them a game ahead and both teams would have six left to play.
The Knicks played last night against the Kings in one they had to come from behind to win. They have a handful of impact players on the injury report, but lucky us it appears they’ll all play. They also get OG Anunoby back tonight which makes a really good defensive team even tougher to play against. Again, it’s just our luck that Anunoby returns to the lineup just in time for a matchup with Chicago.
I’m intrigued to see how the Bulls respond to three days off. They have a lot of players who have played a lot of big minutes. It’s the ultimate ‘rest vs rust’ debate. One would think someone like Alex Caruso would benefit from three consecutive nights off. Hopefully the rest of the roster uses their fresh legs to their advantage over a Knicks team that, again, is playing on the second end of a back-to-back with travel in between.
