Astros Are All Set Without Andy Pettitte – Team Clearly Does Not Understand What “All Set” Means

The Houston Astros have been virtually non-existent this off-season, and apparently their loudest move is going to be swearing off any kind of loud move.

McLane also addressed the possibility that Pettitte could make a return to Houston as negotiations with the Yankees stalled. Pettitte also pitched for Houston from 2004-06.

“We’re pretty well set,” he said. “I don’t see us entering into the negotiations.” CBSSports.com Baseball.

Not pursuing Pettitte is one thing – the Astros’ payroll somehow already stands above $100 million, so I can understand the aversion to adding any more.

But all set?

The Astros are in VERY REAL danger of sending out Mike Hampton (yes, that Mike Hampton – the guy who only barely pitched last year) as their number four starter, and Russ Ortiz (yes, that Russ Ortiz – the guy who didn’t pitch at ALL last year) as their number five starter.

All set? If you mean all set to lose every fourth and fifth day, then sure. All set. Hey, they can still put up a .600 winning percentage.

Feeling for Alzolay But Also Needing to Figure It Out and Other Cubs Bullets
