If you’ve been online at all today, there’s no doubt you’ve seen the scary news around MLB: The Marlins have 14 cases of COVID-19 within their organization, and multiple games have been cancelled across the league as a result.
But alongside that news was a quieter story about the Reds, who had one player (Matt Davidson) test positive on Friday and two others, Mike Moustakas and Nick Senzel, get scratched over the weekend because they were not feeling well.
In light of what happened with the Marlins, there was some fear that tonight’s Cubs game against the Reds was going to get postponed. But since this morning, the Cubs player rep, Ian Happ, has been in contact with the Reds as well as the other 30 team reps across the league, and things were/are looking good for the game to go on as scheduled. And in addition to those conversations, Cubs Manager David Ross revealed that he received a more detailed explanation of what’s been going on with the Reds, which led to an organizational determination that “it’s safe to step on the field with them” tonight.

We don’t have many more details than that for now, but Moustakas has since been placed on the injured list, and Senzel is not in the starting lineup (though I believe he’s still on the active roster as of now).
