Dang. After Kris Bryant homered following that diving play last night, I hoped that his wincing was just a momentary issue.
I guess he’s still feeling it:
Kris Bryant has been scratched due to left wrist and left ring finger soreness. Issue stems from the dive attempt he had in the 5th inning on Wednesday night in Cleveland.

This was the play:
Given that tonight’s starter, Brett Anderson, has huge splits in recent years (he dominates lefties and gives it up against righties), Bryant likely really wanted to go in this one. So, yeah, that’s how you know he got to the park today and it just wasn’t feeling right.
Hopefully a day off will clear things up, but wrist issues are always scary for hitters. He may need some time. I anticipate we’ll get an update soon.
In the meantime, the updated Cubs lineup is here. Kyle Schwarber takes over in left. So at least he is feeling OK after the HBP in the knee.
UPDATE: Good to take a day at least, and hopefully this is right on:
Ross: "Abundance of caution" with Bryant. Doesn't think the wrist/finger issue is serious.
