Chicago Cubs Lineup: Welcome Back to Wrigley Field (And Welcome Back, Javy!)

The sun is shining, the bleachers are packed (or, at least they’re allowed to be), and the Cardinals are in town. Summer baseball is here. Let’s go.

Chicago Cubs Lineup:

1. Joc Pederson, LF
2. Kris Bryant, CF
3. Javy Baez, SS
4. Anthony Rizzo, 1B
5. Willson Contreras, C
6. Patrick Wisdom, 3B
7. Jason Heyward, RF
8. Sergio Alcantara, 2B
9. Kohl Stewart, P

First thing’s first, Javy Baez is back! After missing a few games with a thumb injury, Javy Baez is back in the starting lineup. And even better, despite his return, Sergio Alcantara is staying in the starting lineup (over Eric Sogard) starting at second base!

Patrick Wisdom stays at third base, pushing Kris Bryant to the outfield. But instead of putting Ian Happ in center field and Bryant in right, the Cubs are going with Jason Heyward in right and Bryant in center, effectively choosing Heyward over Happ, which … just doesn’t make any sense to me. But whatever. One lineup battle at a time.

As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ post closer to game time (1:20 CT).
