Well, we were supposed to get our classic Friday afternoon baseball today, ahead of some Bulls playoff basketball tonight (Game 3 vs. the Bucks). But the stretch of horrid Chicago weather continued, and this game was postponed from 1:20 to 7:05 CT. Now both games will be on at the same time. Joy.
Jose Quintana is on the mound for the Pirates tonight – and the Cubs have loaded up on righties in response – but he held the Cubs to just one run (a solo Seiya shot) in 5.1 innings in Pittsburgh last time out. Hopefully, they’ve got his number this time around, because that was absolutely painful to watch.
On the flip side, is making his third start in a Cubs uniform, and he still hasn’t allowed a run yet this year – including five scoreless innings with just 3 hits against the Pirates his first time out. That game featured a TON of weak contact on the ground (and heavy dose of curveballs), so maybe he’ll stick with the same plan of attack tonight. That said, the Pirates lineup is a little different this time around: Out (Tsutsugo, Castillo, and Tucker), In (Alford, Vogelbach, VanMeter).
Game time is 7:05 and the rain should clear up shortly thereafter. Go Cubs.
