Marquee was broadcasting the South Bend Cubs’ game last night, a choice that had to be made well in advance for logistical reasons, but which might’ve been the Myrtle Beach Pelicans game if chosen on the spot (the Pelicans were playing for the first half championship, which they won in comeback fashion).
Which is not to say the South Bend game didn’t wind up a great one. Not only did the Cubs come back from a 5-2 deficit in the 6th, they won it on a three-run walk-off shot from catching prospect Pablo Aliendo:
Aliendo, who just turned 21, was a breakout prospect last year at Myrtle Beach, and has been a little bit below average at the plate this year at High-A. Not necessarily surprising for a young catching prospect, but it’s nice to see him get into one at a big moment.
