The Cubs and Mets have a double-header on tap today, with Marcus Stroman and Taijuan Walker squaring off for game 1 at Wrigley Field.
Walker is having an excellent overall season and has completed at least 6.0 innings for seven straight starts. With that said, the Marlins and Reds account for four of his last seven games and they’re among the worst offenses in MLB, solidly worse than the Cubs who actually rank right in the middle of the pack this year by wRC+.
Marcus Stroman is making his second start back from another stint on the IL, though he looked pretty good in his four innings against the Dodgers last weekend. Hopefully, he can keep looking good and get stretched back out. I really want to know what the Cubs have in him heading into next season (though I’m confident he’ll be just fine in the long term).
Go Cubs.
