The Chicago Cubs (2-3) haven’t gotten off to a great start this season, but they have shown signs of life. Their top two starters had great first outings against Milwaukee, and the bats started coming alive in Cincinnati. Seiya Suzuki still isn’t back, but he is on his way. And the Cubs are fortunate to miss Jacob deGrom, who just threw on Wednesday.
In the meantime, Patrick Wisdom, Ian Happ, and Dansby Swanson have all been hitting (or seeing) the ball well, while Nico Hoerner and Eric Hosmer are at least racking up some hits.
That said, the Rangers have some pretty solid starting pitching this season, with three tough matchups in store for the Cubs at Wrigley Field. At least they’ll be well-rested after the rainout (Wednesday) and the off-day (yesterday).
