Wednesday is the first day that Marcus Stroman is eligible to come off of the Injured List.
And Wednesday is the day that Marcus Stroman will come off of the Injured List:
Stroman, who has been on the IL with hip inflammation, received a cortisone shot initially and has since successfully thrown a couple bullpens. He’ll throw one more tomorrow, according to the Sun-Times, and then he’s expected to make his return to the rotation on Wednesday against the White Sox.
You can read the Sun-Times piece for quotes from Stroman, who sounds optimistic about his body and his anticipated performance. It just sounds like things got out of whack for him, physically and mentally, and it was a good opportunity to get a complete reset. I am also very optimistic about Stroman’s return.
As I’ve said before, for as much as Stroman struggled over the last month+, the Cubs NEED a healthy and effective Stroman the rest of the way if they really want to make a run. He’s too important, and too good when he’s right. Hopefully he looks like himself on Wednesday.
