Cubs vs Rangers — THE REGULAR SEASON IS HERE! Wake up and rejoice.
Later tonight, the Cubs will begin their march toward October Baseball against the (reigning World Series champion) Texas Rangers in Arlington. Justin Steele is getting the nod for the opener, following an absolutely brilliant breakout season in 2023.
And it’s a big season for Steele, who is now the anchor of a Cubs rotation that has plenty of depth but not nearly as much immediate upside. With that comes a lot of responsibility. But Steele is an absolute dog, so that’s exactly what I expect from him.
Kyle Hendricks is taking the ball for game 2 against the only other organization he’s ever known. And Jordan Wicks is getting the nod for Game 3, pushing Shota Imanaga’s debut back to the homer opener at Wrigley Field on Monday (Brett and I will be there!).
