The Chicago Cubs are on the mend. Justin Steele and Cody Bellinger returned to the team this week, and it looks like Seiya Suzuki isn’t far behind them.
Suzuki started a rehab assignment with Iowa today and had an impressive day, going 2-2 with a walk and a pair of runs scored before being pinch-hit for, ending his day. He also swiped a bag, which is a pretty good sign for a player recovering from an oblique strain.
Here’s Suzuki’s first hit, a single on an 0-2 count that scored Darius Hill (no RBI since Hill scored on an error):

Suzuki would score on an Owen Caissie home run two hitters later. Here’s that bomb by Caissie, in case you missed it.

Suzuki picked up another single in the bottom of the second inning on a line drive to center field. Suzuki then led off the bottom of the fourth with a walk and promptly stole second base before scoring on a fielder’s choice.
It was a pretty encouraging day for Seiya, who is expected to play in Iowa again tomorrow before returning to Chicago for the Cubs’ series with the Pirates this weekend.
