Betts is the Frontrunner

Betts is off to a scorching hot start as he is hitting .352 with an OPS of 1.036. He has hit 6 homers, stolen 8 bases, and leads the league with 28 walks. This has helped him reach an on-base percentage of .459 which also leads the league.

Betts can do it all and has one MVP under his belt (2018) while sporting second-place finishes in 2016, 2020, and 2023.

Could Bryce Harper Be a Sleeper?

On FanDuel Sportsbook, Bryce Harper is +2500 odds. That means a $100 bet on him to win the National League MVP would win $2500. Now, we believe there is some value there, and here’s why.

First of all, Harper is a two-time MVP so he has what it takes to get it done. He also has the ability to get hotter than anyone. During his 2015 MVP season, he hit .361 in May and .370 in June. On the other side of that, in his 2021 MVP season, he hit just .211 in May.

He’s currently hitting .234 with 7 homers but his OPS is a decent .836 while he’s walked 24 times. He has dealt with some injuries in the past few years but he hit .296 with an OPS of .996 in the 2nd half of last season. He has the ability to get red-hot down the stretch.

What About 2023 NL MVP Ronald Acuna?

What about Ronald Acuna? He is off to a slow start hitting just .268 with 2 homers and an OPS of .738. He will get going soon but the odds of him winning the MVP are stacked against him based on recent history. We haven’t seen a repeat winner in the National League since Albert Pujols in 2008 and 2009. Before him, Barry Bonds was the only repeat winner until back in the early 80s when Dale Murphy won back-to-back.

Winning the MVP is extremely difficult. You can expect Acuna Jr. to be up there though because the Braves will win a lot of games this year giving him the chance to shine in the spotlight once more.

Remember to Compare Odds

As always, be sure to compare odds and lines from the top sportsbooks before making your bets. When it comes to future bets, you might have some major differences. For example, Bryce Harper might be +2000 on one sportsbook but +2500 on the other. The +2500 is a better bet because you would win more.

This is one of the best things about online sports betting. You don’t have to stick to just one sportsbook. You can shop around for lines, odds, promo codes, and more.
