Soto the Favorite to be latest Bronx Bomber to win AL MVP
Playing for the Yankees is always an advantage when looking at awards, especially when you stand out among your teammates. This is exactly what Soto is doing in his first season in Pinstripes. Juan leads the Yankees in pretty much every offensive category and he’s playing good defense so far as well. He’ll be hurt in the voting when and if Aaron Judge continues to heat up and pile up his own numbers. But Soto is currently leading Major League Baseball’s most polarizing franchise and will stay atop the AL MVP odds board as long as this continues.
Why Not Riley Greene?
The Detroit Tigers are one of baseball’s best early-season surprises. They’re currently sitting at 18-16, just 4-games back of Cleveland for the AL Central lead and this is with the 9th fewest runs scored. This leads us to Greene who is tied for the 3rd most HRs in the AL with 8, has the 6th highest Adjusted OPS+, and the 2nd best WAR in the American League.
Riley is definitely hurt by the lack of offense from his teammates, reflected in his RBI total sitting at just 16. That said, with AL MVP Odds of +6000 at FanDuel, he makes for a great longshot to take a chance on. If the Tigers can continue winning close games, and stay in the playoff hunt late into the season, Greene’s importance to the team will be magnified and make his AL MVP chances that much higher.
Remember to Compare Odds
As always, comparing odds and lines from as many sportsbooks as possible before making your bets is advised. Future bets, especially MVP markets might have major differences with different books taking in different amounts of action. For example, Juan Soto might be +230 like we see here at FanDuel Sportsbook but +200 on another. In that case, you’d profit more by betting +230 than +200. This is one of the many great things about online sports betting. You don’t have to bet on one sportsbook. You’re able to shop around for lines, odds, promo codes, and more.
