The Jacksonville Jaguars finished 9-8 for a second consecutive season but failed to make the playoffs in 2023. Doing so the upcoming season will be even harder with the entire division likely being better than last year as well. They’ve made some important additions via free agency this offseason but now it’s time to turn their attention to the 2024 NFL Draft. Let’s take a look at their top priorities in the Draft.
Jacksonville Jaguars Positions to Address in the NFL Draft
The Jacksonville Jaguars are one of the many young teams on the cusp of contention. With Trevor Lawrence maturing under center and a young core showing promise, the 2024 draft presents a chance to solidify their foundation and become a true contender in the AFC. Here’s a look at the top 5 needs the Jaguars should address in the upcoming NFL Draft.
Cornerback
Jacksonville was one of the league’s worst pass defenses in 2023 and they had to cut their best corner, Darious Williams to save salary. They’ve since added veteran Ronald Darby to help solidify the position but they clearly need more.
Wide Receiver
The Jaguars are still searching for that number one guy on the outside. Calvin Ridley lasted just one season in Jacksonville and while Christian Kirk has been an outstanding producer at wide receiver, he isn’t viewed as an elite option. They’ve brought in Gabe Davis from Buffalo to bolster the WR corps but an elite option on the outside is still needed for TLaw.

Defensive Line depth
While Josh Allen and Travon Walker are a formidable edge-rushing duo, the Jaguars need more consistent pressure across the defensive line as a whole. They’ve attempted to address this with the signing of Arik Armstead in free agency but he’s in the latter stages of his career and there isn’t much depth behind their starters up front.
Interior Offensive Line
Protecting Trevor Lawrence is paramount and while the tackle positions are relatively strong, the guard and center positions need more depth. Jacksonville signed Brandon Scherff and Mitch Morse to take over at guard and center but both players will be 33 on opening weekend and neither is signed past 2026. Adding a piece or two that could step in during an injury and possibly take over when Scerff and Morse are gone is crucial.
Running Back
Travis Etienne amassed 267 carries and 58 receptions in 2023, surpassing 1,000 rushing and 300 receiving yards for the second straight season. He’s been the workhorse that Jacksonville wanted when they drafted him 25th overall back in 2021 and more. That said, if he were to go down for an extended period, the Jaguars have only Tank Bigsby and D’Ernest Johnson at their disposal. Neither of these players is the receiving threat that Etienne is so adding a skilled pass catcher out of the backfield could make sense for the Jags.
Jacksonville Jaguars Offseason Additions
The Jacksonville Jaguars have been busy this offseason adding veterans at multiple positions. They brought in Mac Jones to backup Trevor Lawrence and added a big play receiver in Gabe Davis. See a few of their most impactful moves here.
