I got another close up look at my alma mater’s basketball team last night when Southern Illinois played at Loyola. But even in defeat, I like the general direction of the team. My Salukis hung around with Loyola for about 25-30 minutes, but the Ramblers have a bit too much challenge and a coaching edge with the experienced Porter Moser. Should SIU clean up its shot selection (26 3-pointers is far too many), its defense is good enough to hang around and beat some teams it probably shouldn’t at this point of the building process. In any case, Go Dawgs!
