Oh My God, They’re Making a Dennis Rodman Movie Called “48 Hours in Vegas”

Just when Hollywood is already down to only superheroes and movies starting The Rock, they go out and do something like this … AND TOTALLY REDEEM THEMSELVES. According to Rolling Stone Magazine, Dennis Rodman’s infamous trip to Vegas during the 1997-1998 Bulls season is being turned into a movie entitled “48 Hours in Vegas.”

The title could use a little work, but OH BABY am I here for it.

If you need a little reminder on the context, there’s no better storyteller than the G.O.A.T.

And get this, the movie is being produced by Dennis Rodman, himself. And he’s got some legitimate help from Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, who you might know from their recent work directing 21 and 22 Jump Street (both were hilarious) as well as The Lego Movie.

Rolling Stones caught up with the filmmaking duo and got their take on the movie and why it’s being made:

“Dennis refused to follow the herd,” Lord and Miller said in a statement. “That is what made him a target and it’s also what made him a star. His weekend in Las Vegas is full of fun and hijinks, but it is also full of important questions about the way public figures, and workers are treated, especially when their individuality is expressed so vividly.”

Nathan Kahane (Lionsgate) added that “In 1998, there was nobody on Earth who’d be more fun — or maybe more dangerous — to party with [than Rodman].” Uh, yeah, that part I can believe. Long story short, with this production team, this feels like an actual, legitimate movie. Not one of those fun ideas that gets floated but never followed through.

You can read more about the actual expected plot of the story at Rolling Stone, as it appears they will take some creative liberties to make it work. Either way, I’m going to be in line for a ticket on opening night. Too funny.
