It has been a rough few years for former Bears running back Tarik Cohen.
And recently, Cohen was able to share his feelings about his journey in a must-read letter to himself at The Players Tribune. Unfortunately, another hurdle for Cohen to clear is coming his way after he suffered an apparent injury while training:

I’ve seen video floating around online. And there has been ample speculation about the specifics of the injury. I don’t necessarily feel comfortable sharing video of what looks to be a leg injury that occurred as Cohen continues his attempts to make his way back to football. But just know that I hope that it isn’t as bad as it seems. Given what he has been through lately, Cohen deserves a better fate than what he is currently dealing with right now.
Cohen was cut by the Bears in March with an injury designation. The do-it-all back was reportedly unable to pass a physical, which was stemming from the knee injury he suffered in 2020. Cohen went down with an ACL injury in Week 3 of the 2020 season, causing him to miss the remaining 13 games of that season. Complications from the injury kept him off the field for the entirety of the 2021 campaign. And while Cohen’s goal was to be back for the start of the 2022 season, it looks like that timetable will be pushed back a bit. What a bummer.
At the peak of his powers, Cohen was a treat to watch. He was one of football’s best return specialists and a wizard of a gadget back on offense. An all-purpose yards collector in his first two seasons and an All-Pro return ace in 2018, Cohen was the man. He signed a multi-year extension in 2020, keeping him around as a piece of the offensive puzzle. It was a new high point of a career underdog story for Cohen. But what has happened since has been anything but storybook. Hopefully, Cohen’s injury isn’t as bad as it looks and he gets fully healthy. Not just for football reasons. But for himself.
