Tory Taylor has been on my radar as a potential Chicago Bears draft pick for a hot minute.
And now, he is on his way to Chicago:
Drafting a punter isn’t going to be popular in some circles. But Tory Taylor isn’t just another punter. The University of Iowa product was a Unanimous All-American in 2023 and a two-time first-team All-Big Ten punter. No one has punted for more yards in a single season than Taylor’s 4,479 yards in 2023. And there is no punter who has put up a higher career average than his 46.3 yards per punt. Taylor was an asset for the Hawkeyes and figures to be one for the Bears.
Besides, try and see it this way: Someone has to hold the extra-point attempts for Cairo Santos after all those Rome Odunze, DJ Moore, Keenan Allen, Cole Kmet, Gerald Everett D’Andre Swift, Roschon Johnson, Khalil Herbert, and Caleb Williams touchdowns.
