NFL Trade Deadline Day Saw 11 Deals Become Officially Official

The NFL Trade Deadline is in the books, and it was a busy one.

And while it wasn’t just the Bears doing business, it was Chicago’s football team making some splashy moves — both of which became officially official today:

As for the other trades that went down today, per Aaron Wilson’s share of the NFL’s transaction wire:

  • Lions trade TE T.J. Hockenson to Vikings for 2023 2nd round pick, 2024 3rd round pick
  • 49ers trade RB Jeff Wilson to Dolphins for 2023 5th round pick
  • Commanders trade CB William Jackson III and 2025 7th round pick (conditional) to Steelers for 2025 6th round pick (conditional)
  • Broncos trade EDGE Bradley Chubb and 2025 5th round pick to Dolphins for RB Chase Edmonds, 2023 1st round pick, 2024 4th round pick
  • Falcons trade DB Dean Marlowe to Bills for 2023 7th round pick
  • Falcons trade WR Calvin Ridley to Jaguars for 2023 5th round pick (conditional), 2024 4th round pick (conditional)
  • Jets trade DE Jacob Martin and 2024 5th round pick to Broncos for 2024 4th round pick
  • Chiefs trade CB Rashad Fenton to Falcons for 2023 7th round pick (conditional)
  • Bills trade RB Zack Moss and 2023 6th round pick (conditional) to Colts for RB Nyheim Hines
  • By my math, that’s 11 trades in total that were executed today. Not bad!

We saw 18 future NFL Draft picks change hands. Six of those selections are conditional picks that can vest or improve depending on the trade details. That’s kinda fun. Running through the list has me noticing that 14 players will be playing on new teams starting this upcoming weekend. This feels as active as an NFL trade deadline gets these days. And that’s without us counting the Robert Quinn, Kadarius Toney, James Robinson, Jonathan Hankins, and Deion Jones trades. Now we’re looking at a lively deadline with 16 trades. And I’m here for it!

Finally, we’re seeing general managers willing to roll the dice and leverage some draft capital to acquire players. This is old hat for fans following MLB’s trade deadline ridiculousness, which so often sees waves of prospects going everywhere. More of this in the year’s to come, please?

As for the Bears, there is so much fallout for us to sort through regarding their deals. And we’ll get to ’em. In the meantime, let’s take a breather. We have much to discuss in the coming days.
