Getting to Know the Combine’s Top Defensive Line and Linebacker Prospects Working Out Tonight

Chicago Bears

The NFL Scouting Combine features draft-eligible prospects showcasing their skills in front of NFL front office executives, scouts, coaches, and fans who tune in on NFL Network to take in the event. If the Bears are going to get back to their winning ways, the process will begin with successful scouting at the Combine that serves as a springboard to a building a strong draft board. So let’s highlight some prospects working out in today’s drills and see if we can find some future fits.

Previous: QB/TE/WR. OL/RB/Specialists

Today: Defensive linemen, Linebackers

  1. Derrick Brown, Auburn
  2. Javon Kinlaw, South Carolina
  3. Neville Gallimore, Oklahoma
  4. Ross Blacklock, TCU
  5. Jordan Elliott, Missouri
  6. Raekwon Davis, Alabama
  7. Justin Madubuike, Texas A&M
  8. Marlon Davidson, Auburn
  9. Davon Hamilton, Ohio State
  10. Rashard Lawrence, LSU

  1. Chase Young, Ohio State
  2. A.J. Epenesa, Iowa
  3. K’Lavon Chaisson, LSU
  4. Yetur Gross-Matos, Penn State
  5. Terrell Lewis, Alabama
  6. Curtis Weaver, Boise State
  7. Julian Okwara, Notre Dame
  8. Jonathan Greenard, Florida
  9. Jabari Zuniga, florida

These prospects have met with the Bears: Travis Gipson, Tulsa; Bradlee Anae, Utah; K’Lavon Chaisson, LSU; Jonathan Greenard, Florida; Jabari Zuniga, Florida; Yetur Gross-Matos, Penn State, Kenny Willekes, Michigan State

One to watch: Florida’s Jonathan Greenard has been someone seems to have settled in as a probable Round 2 pick, and has been mocked to go to the Bears with one of their two second-round picks a few times during mock draft season. Hits like this make me understand why:

  1. Isaiah Simmons, Clemson
  2. Kenneth Murray, Oklahoma
  3. Patrick Queen, LSU
  4. Zack Baun, Wisconsin
  5. Akeem Davis-Gaither, Appalachian Stte
  6. Troy Dye, Oregon
  7. Malik Harrison, Ohio State
  8. Logan Wilson, Wyoming
  9. Joe Bachie, Michigan State
  10. Cam Brown, Penn State

These prospects have met with the Bears: Michael Pinckney, Miami; Akeem Davis-Gaither, Appalachian State; Logan Wilson, Wyoming;

One to watch: Finding an inside linebacker should be a high priority, but it’s not as if the Bears haven’t had success in doing so recently. Perhaps Wyoming’s Logan Wilson fits the bill as someone who can step up inside, carry the torch, and play next to Roquan Smith.
