Indy 500 Picks
![Team Penske driver Will Power (12) prepares to get in his car Saturday, May 18, 2024, during qualifying for the 108th running of the Indianapolis 500 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. *Gary Mook/For IndyStar / USA TODAY NETWORK](https://www.bleachernation.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/USATSI_23311150-copy.jpg)
Admittedly, I haven’t watched a single IndyCar race this season nor pay much attention to the series usually. However, I watch the Indy 500 annually and with one of my racing series’ drivers, Kyle Larson, in the field, I’ve been a little more invested this season. So with that said, two drivers caught my eye. So tail or fade at your own risk, but here are the Indy 500 odds I’m betting.
Indy 500 Purse & Winner’s Payout
Santino Ferrucci Top 10 -135 (BetMGM)
Ferrucci has been incredible in the Greatest Spectacle in Racing. He leads all active IndyCar drivers in average finish and has claimed top 10’s in all five Indy 500 appearances. I won’t pretend to have a feeling about his current form outside of seeing this is his best starting spot of the year. But, five straight top 10s in IndyCar’s most prestigious race, including laps led in four of the five races, are no fluke. He clearly has a feel for Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Will Power to Win +850
The elder statesman for Penske is a former Indy 500 winner (2018) and has been incredibly fast this year. He currently has the best average finish at 3.0 and has finished runner-up an improbable three of four races. Now, Power hasn’t placed better than 14th in any of the previous four Indy 500’s but he also hasn’t been this fast since starting 6th and finishing 5th back in 2019. Will is starting 3rd this year, which just so happens to be the exact spot he fired off from during his 2018 Indy 500 victory.
