Just hours before the 8:00 p.m. CT puck drop for their Tuesday night contest against the St. Louis Blues, the Vegas Golden Knights announced that the entire coaching staff would be unavailable “out of an abundance of caution” due to COVID-19 protocols. At least one member of the staff has tested positive for COVID-19 at this point.

Stepping in behind the bench for the Golden Knight will be general manager Kelly McCrimmon and members of the AHL Henderson Silver Knights. The Henderson Silver Knights coaching staff consists of head coach Manny Viveiros and assistant coaches Joel Ward and Jamie Heward.
McCrimmon played for the Brandon Wheat Kings of the WHL from 1978-80, then played four seasons at the University of Michigan from 1980-1984. He took over as head coach of the Wheat Kings from 1990-92 and then from 2004-11, and then again from 2013-16.
Viveiros played 21 professional seasons in North America and Europe before becoming the head coach of the Swift Current Broncos in the WHL from 2016-18. He also was the head coach of the Spokane Chiefs last season before being name the Silver Knights head coach. Heward was an assistant coach with Swift Current from 2013-18, and then an associate coach with the Vancouver Giants (WHL) from 2018-20. Ward is a veteran of 726 NHL games with the Minnesota Wild, Washington Capitals, Nashville Predators, and San Jose Sharks from 2006-18.
