On Thursday, the Chicago Bulls traded for five new players.
On Saturday, Bulls fans will see all but one of those players suit up for the first time.
It’s one hell of a quick turnaround, especially when we consider that head coach Billy Donovan said none of the new players were able to practice with the team today. But, hell, why not hit the ground running? After all, the Bulls are in the midst of a playoff pursuit, and only 29 games remain for their newly bolstered team to work their way up the standings.
Theis will be the only player who misses tomorrow’s game against the San Antonio Spurs, per Donovan. The big man is dealing with a family matter, but he reportedly plans to join the team for their matchup in Golden State.
Donovan said he expects all the new guys (except for Theis, who will meet team for Warriors game) will be available vs. Spurs. https://t.co/PhtVTVEkpV

Meanwhile Vucevic, Aminu, Brown, and Green are all going to play.
I’m not sure if Donovan possibly misspoke when making this statement or he actually does plan to put all the new players on the court. Guys like Brown and Green had been in and out of the rotation on their former teams this season, but maybe Donovan plans to give all the new guys a little bit of time right off the bat so he can get a better idea of what he’s working with (I think Brown, specifically, will be a key rotation guy by the end of the season).
It’s all about finding a balance, and Donovan will now have to do that while he simultaneously put his team in a position to win. A tough task, but it sure sounds like he’s ready.
Billy Donovan: I was excited. Your mind as a coach goes to how you piece things together. It’s all positive.
