Coby White is the latest Chicago Bulls player to be bitten by the injury bug.
According to the latest official injury report, White is questionable for this evening’s game against the Sacramento Kings. The guard is dealing with left ankle soreness after his season-high 35-point performance against the Charlotte Hornets.
White has yet to miss a game this season, averaging 36.0 minutes over his 49 games played. He has been in the thick of a breakout campaign and the catalyst for the team’s improved play since December. Especially without Zach LaVine on the floor, White’s scoring punch has been vital.
The good news is that this “questionable” designation doesn’t imply any long-term injury concerns. But it’s also hard not to think that White’s immense workload could be catching up to him. The 23-year-old has led the NBA with 1,763 total minutes played this season (DeMar DeRozan sits in second place with 1,754 minutes). If we’re being honest, White is probably due for a night off, but I’d undoubtedly have my concerns about what this offense would look like against one of the best teams in the West.
