Anthony Edwards Compared to MJ, Angel Reese Talks Candace Parker’s Retirement, and Other Bulls Bullets

Look, I know the last person who should be pointing and laughing at a team is me. I write about the lowly Chicago Bulls every day like a depressed maniac. But I’d be lying if I said it didn’t bring me an element of sick joy to watch the uber-expensive Phoenix Suns get swept by the Minnesota Timberwolves last night.

In terms of future flexibility, they make the Chicago Bulls look like a contortionist.

  • Anthony Edwards is special. The former No. 1 overall pick continues to climb up the league leaderboards after a dominant first-round series against some of the best players in the world. Despite both Devin Booker and Kevin Durant standing on the other end, it was Edwards who looked like the single-best hooper in that series. He capped off the sweep with 40 points on 12-23 shooting, putting an exclamation point on things with a back-breaking poster dunk on Durant to seal the game.
  • Still only 22 years old, I’m incredibly jealous of what the Timberwolves have. We talked about this in a recent set of bullets, but several young stars have headlined these playoffs. It has served as a poignant reminder of the talent Chicago still lacks and how important it is to put yourself in a position to land a player of that caliber. Your move, AK!
  • Michael Jordan of the Chicago Bulls

  • The Anthony Edwards-Michael Jordan comparisons are growing louder. I think we can all agree that attaching anyone to the GOAT feels extremely hyperbolic, but I also can’t sit here and say I don’t understand the similarities. Edwards is starting to build a reputation that centers around his obsessive competitiveness and high-flying antics. His ability to get downhill and control his body around the rim is also reminiscent of what we saw from Jordan. I still lean toward a Dwyane Wade comp for Edwards, particularly when we consider his athletic build and viciousness (something about Jordan’s game felt more fluid and graceful). But, again, I get it.
  • Edwards and the GOAT synced up …
  • Charles Barkley even called out the MJ comparison …
  • Kevin Durant is going to get a ton of crap for this series – per usual. But I love that he and ANT had a moment after the game. Even though these two jawed during the series, there is so much respect there. Honestly, one can argue that’s another MJ quality, right? His Airness was never afraid to talk the talk, but his opponents admired it because of the way he walked the walk.
  • Edwards is 22-years-old telling his veteran teammate how to act …
  • In case you missed it, a Chicago sports legend called it a career this weekend. Candace Parker – who first rose to fame outside the city in Naperville – announced her retirement. The WNBA legend has one of the most impressive resumes in league history, and she’ll forever be remembered for bringing the first championship to the Chicago Sky. More on her farewell here.
  • New Sky Angel Reese sang Parker’s praises after the news, saying that she even chose not to ask for jersey No. 3 because it’ll surely be retired by the franchise one day.
  • All things considered, to keep these comparison-themed bullets going, Reese might as well study a lot of Parker tape! The two could both be considered oversized wings with elite defensive versatility. The scoring arsenal for Parker was probably more diverse, but Reese likely possesses even more raw athleticism. Regardless, if Reese wants to learn some more ways to expand her offensive game and develop as a playmaker, studying Parker could be a wise move.
  • Bobby Portis got ejected in the first quarter of a pivotal Game 3 in Indiana. The Bucks were already without both Damian Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo … so what a miraculously stupid move.
  • Sounds good to me!
