The race to join Pat Hughes in the radio booth is down to just two, and the final decision is expected before the beginning of Spring Training.
WGN general manager Tom Langmyer said he hopes to announce a replacement before spring training starts. Our industry sources tell us Keith Moreland and Dave Otto appear to be the two finalists, barring any late developments.
“I believe in teamwork and that will really play a big role in the new partner, because I want to really feel that he is a special part of our team,” Hughes told us. “The concept of chemistry is not something that is automatic or immediate. It is something that has to be nurtured and cultivated and developed. Ronnie and I got along well at the start, but nowhere near as well as after we had been together for a few years and kind of learned each other.” chicagotribune.com.
Hughes’ new partner is expected to join him at the mic on February 27, when the Cubs take on the Oakland A’s.
