Chicago Cubs Lineup: Fowler is Back! Montero Catching, Zobrist Cleanup

Chicago Cubs

happy cubs old logoThe Cubs continue what has been a nice stretch of baseball, with a three-game weekend series against the Brewers.

Jason Hammel gets the first crack at Milwaukee, and looked sharped his last time out. Here’s the lineup that will take the field behind him.

(Check out who’s leading off!)

Chicago Cubs Lineup v. Milwaukee Brewers (Jimmy Nelson)

  1. Dexter Fowler, CF
  2. Kris Bryant, 3B
  3. Anthony Rizzo, 1B
  4. Ben Zobrist, 2B
  5. Willson Contreras, LF
  6. Jason Heyward, RF
  7. Addison Russell, SS
  8. Miguel Montero, C
  9. Jason Hammel, P

The Cubs center fielder and leadoff man is back to his rightful place atop the Cubs lineup. It’s been a while for Dexter Fowler, but with a nice rehab start and a good pitching match-up, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him jump right back into action.

Miguel Montero is catching his third straight game, although, with the off-day yesterday, that’s not as crazy as it sounds. Even still, it’s surprising to see him catch both Kyle Hendricks and Jason Hammel, when they are the two most obvious Willson Contreras types (not a ton of velocity or movement).

Ben Zobrist takes over the fourth spot in the order, while #Bryzzo continues to hit second and third. I’m amazed by how much more complete the Cubs lineup looks with Fowler back in it.

We’ll have a full Pre-Gamin’ for you closer to game time.
