With their win last night, the Chicago Cubs have already won their 10th series in thirteen tries since the All-Star Break.
But if they can win this afternoon as well, they’ll take home their sixth series sweep since the break. That’s a lot of wins. Here’s the squad they’ll try it with.
Chicago Cubs Lineup v. San Diego Padres (Paul Clemens):
- Dexter Fowler, CF
- Kris Bryant, 1B
- Ben Zobrist, 2B
- Jorge Soler, LF
- Addison Russell, SS

Anthony Rizzo gets a well earned breather the day before an off-day, as Maddon frequently likes to do with his main guys (this way, they get two guaranteed days off to rest and relax instead of just one). In his place, Kris Bryant covers first base, while Javy Baez takes over at third.
Jorge Soler is also returning to action in left field, after taking a foul ball off his knee over the weekend. It’s great to see him back out there (and batting cleanup!), especially given his production since his return from the hamstring injury: .286/.333/.595 with 4 HR in just 45 plate appearances. Let’s get that sweep, eh, Cubs?
We’ll have a full Pre-Gamin’ for you closer to game time.
